Degrassi stalker faces charges

MELBOURNE – There’s relief in sight for one of the
former stars of the popular Canadian TV series Degrassi
High. The series follows a group of kids living on
Degrassi Street in Toronto.
A court in Melbourne, Australia, has ordered Brian
Sutcliffe, to stop stalking Sara Ballingall of Toronto by
email and regular post.
Ballingall played Melanie on Degrassi High. She says
Sutcliffe had sent her a Degrassi High book he wanted
her to sign.
When the book was returned unsigned, he sent it back to
Ballingall with a toy koala bear and said she would have to
send the bear back if she did not sign the book. Sutcliffe
also sent Ballingall a letter saying she would be in trouble
if she didn’t sign the book.

The toy bear was destroyed by the Toronto bomb squad.
As part of the court order, police seized 74 firearms from
Sutcliffe’s apartment in Australia including pistols, shotguns,
rifles and a detonation device.
Sutcliffe faces further charges.
