TORONTO (CP) – A man who starred on the television show DeGrassi Junior High has been charged with murder in the beating death of a 23-year-old man.
Tyson Talbot, 30, played the role of Billy Martin on the Kids of DeGrassi and later took on the character of Jason Cox as the TV series became DeGrassi Junior High. The former actor was charged with second-degree murder after Christopher Shelton was punched and kicked by a man outside an east-end Toronto restaurant at about 3:30 a.m. Friday. While at the restaurant, Shelton got into an argument with a man accompanied by two women.
As Shelton was leaving the eatery, the man punched him in the head and he collapsed unconscious onto the sidewalk. The man walked away, then suddenly returned and began kicking Shelton in the head.
Shelton later died in hospital. An autopsy showed he died of blunt-force injuries to the head.
