TORONTO, Oct. 25 /CNW/ – Johnson and Johnson hosted today the BAND-AID(R)
Brand Pumpkin Carving Event. The rustic Riverdale Farm in downtown Toronto was
turned into a pumpkin patch, as hundreds of pumpkins were given out to
families for carving. BAND-AID(R) Brand provided the pumpkins and safe carving
tools to allow families to easily create their own personalized
jack-o- lanterns.
“This is an extremely enjoyable event and we are so happy to be a part of
this community. BAND-AID(R) Brand is devoted to providing families in Toronto
with a fun and safe atmosphere for carving pumpkins this Halloween season,”
said Lisa Guimond, Group Product Director for Johnson & Johnson. “We realize
that Halloween was the perfect occasion to emphasize carving safety in the
context of a fun family event.”
In addition to carving their own pumpkins, families had the chance to see
how some local celebrities plan to carve their own pumpkins. Local celebrities
including cast members from Degrassi: The Next Generation, the Lion King cast,
The Toronto Blue Jays Club, hosts of YTV’s The Zone and design experts donated
carved pumpkins – the pumpkins were then put on auction. All auction proceeds
or personal donations will be donated to the Hospital for Sick Children.
Donations have also been made to the Riverdale Farm and the Hospital for Sick
Children on behalf of Johnson & Johnson, the makers of the BAND-AID(R) Brand.
“The Hospital for Sick Children appreciates all the efforts and funds
that the BAND-AID(R) Brand Pumpkin Carving Event has put forward to celebrate
children and families,” said Angela Solomos, development officer for The
Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. “The longstanding partnership that Sick
Kids has with Johnson and Johnson focuses on children’s health and safety.
Through on-going community support, Johnson and Johnson has made the
well- being of Canadian children their priority.”
The BAND-AID(R) Brand Pumpkin Carving Event took place in conjunction
with the annual Riverdale Farm Halloween Hoot, which included haunted barn
tours and daily farm demonstrations.
“We are thrilled that BAND-AID(R) Brand is hosting this pumpkin carving
event. It’s a great extension of our existing Halloween Hoot and is an element
that we feel local residents greatly enjoy,” said Ruth Armitage, program
coordinator, the Riverdale Farm. “We hope that this can evolve into an annual
event, and we can continue to provide our visitors of The Farm with more
exciting events.”
