A TV show is being blamed after 10 elementary school students committed acts of self-mutilation that included making cuts on their arms with protractors. The students, age 10 to 13, apparently cut themselves with sharp objects over three days in April after watching a character cut herself on Degrassi: The Next Generation, said Jocelyn Blondin, president of the Commission scolaire des Portages de l’Outaouais. Denis Dubois, vice-president of programming at VRAKTV, the CTV show’s French-language broadcaster, defended the award-winning series.
