Finally, “Degrassi: The Next Generation” is back on CTV. eTalk sat down with the show’s stars to get all the details.
“It feels like it has been one really long year,” laughs Cassie Steele, who has played “Manny” since the show’s inception.
“I can’t believe I’ve known ‘Emma’ since she was eleven,” adds Miriam McDonald (who plays “Emma”). “It’s crazy.”
“Yup, we’re all grown up now” says Steele.
The two stars have reason to be excited; the new, seventh season of “Degrassi” is the show’s most ambitious to date.
The series picks up where last season left off and opens with the teens of “Degrassi” heading back for winter semester.
There’s also a flood of new characters on the scene when the school takes in displaced students from rival school Lakehurst.
One of those new faces on “Degrassi” is “Holly J,” played by actress Charlotte Arnold.
“It’s really exciting being here,” Arnold tells eTalk. “I’ve always watched the show and it’s exciting to be here on set. Everyone is really nice, which is good.”
Nina Dobrev, who joined the show last year, sympathizes with the new cast members entering the world of “Degrassi.”
“It was intimidating because the show has been running for so many years and has been so successful,” says Dobrev. “But it was exciting too for the same reasons.”
And her advice for the new cast?
“Play it cool and take it one day at a time.”
“Degrassi: The Next Generation” season seven kicks off on Monday, January 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CTV.
