Stars spin tunes for Natrel Rink

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Natrel Rink, stars of Degrassi: The Next Generation are hitting the DJ booth on Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.

The cast will be spinning as part of a “DJ SK8 Night” from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. while classic Degrassi episodes will be screened from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Studio Theatre.

Samantha Munro

Fans of all ages are invited to hang out with many of the cast members from Degrassi: The Next Generation as they spin tunes at the Natrel Rink and hand out show promo and prizes.

Popular Degrassi episodes that will be screened earlier at the Studio Theatre include: Degrassi: The Next Generation’s Holiday Parts 1&2 (Joey and Sydney’s holiday cheer leaves Caitlin feeling like Scrooge/Manny wants Craig to break up with Ashley) and Degrassi: The Next Generation’s Weddings, Parties, Anything (Craig tries to swear off girls, but Manny and Ellie sure aren’t making it easy. / Joey gets back into the dating game).

“DJ SK8 Nights” heat up the Natrel Rink again this Winter by providing Toronto audiences with the coolest dance floor featuring seven events by DJs spinning French Pop and Indie Rock to Techno and House.

The fourth year of this free all-ages outdoor series has three events in December and January and one event in February at Canada’s largest artificially cooled outdoor rink.

The Natrel Rink launches its silver 25th anniversary season November 22, 2008 and is open daily until March 15, 2009 (weather permitting).

Canada’s largest artificially cooled outdoor rink provides skate rentals, sharpening, change rooms and lockers. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday to 11 p.m. Lakeside Eats offers casual dining and hot and cold beverages next to the rink. The Natrel Rink is located at 235 Queens Quay West, Toronto.

SK8 CULTURE at Harbourfront Centre features free events all ages events including; hockey themed visual arts exhibitions and outdoor fireplace performances, a HarbourKIDS: SK8weekend, hockey readings, DJ SK8 Nights as well as the synchronized skating groups black ice and NEXXICE groups (performing December 19 at 8 p.m.) and stars from Degrassi: The Next Generation helping to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Natrel Rink.
