Thanks to the help of fans voting online, “The Curse of Degrassi” has won a Webby!

“The Curse of Degrassi” was nominated for the 13th annual Webby Awards in the Best Sound Design category.

“We are thrilled to receive this award because it speaks to the incredibly loyal Degrassi fan base, the People’s Voice,” says Stephen Stohn, Executive Producer for Epitome Pictures Inc. “It’s awesome to look back and see how far our company has come in four years in producing Degrassi’s web content.”

“Follow Your INSTINCT (YouTube Viral Campaign)” was named the Webby Award Winner, while “The Curse of Degrassi” was named the People’s Voice Winner.

Two awards are given in every category, one chosen by the academy and one determined by online voting.

“The Curse of Degrassi” has also been selected as an Official Honoree in the category “Drama: Series.” The Official Honoree is awarded to the top 15 percent of all work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement, from nearly 10,000 entries from 50 states and 60 countries.

Directed and written by original Degrassi cast member Stefan Brogren (“Snake”), the 30-minute episode gives a special nod to the classic horror movie Carrie.

“The Curse of Degrassi” is available to watch online now at CTV.ca.

Established in 1996, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

“Degrassi: The Next Generation” currently airs Sunday nights at 7:30pm ET on CTV, with full episodes also available online.
